FAQ
Before you connect, and after you post.
What each platform needs from your account, and what PostVenue does with your posts.
Connecting your accounts
What do I need to connect YouTube?
A Google account with a YouTube channel on it. If the account has no channel yet, create one on YouTube first, then connect.
Have more than one channel? Connect each one. Google asks which account to use every time you connect.
How to create a YouTube channelWhat do I need to connect TikTok?
Your TikTok account. Sign in to TikTok when asked and allow PostVenue to post for you.
TikTok asks you to choose who can see each post, so you pick the audience every time you post there.
What do I need to connect Facebook?
A Facebook Page you manage. It can be one you manage yourself or one you reach through a business portfolio in Meta Business Suite.
You sign in with your own Facebook login, then tick the Pages PostVenue may post to. Each Page you tick becomes its own destination.
Create a Facebook PageCan PostVenue post to my personal Facebook profile?
No. Facebook stopped letting any app post to personal profiles in 2018, so no scheduling tool can. PostVenue posts to Facebook Pages.
If you don't have a Page yet, you can create one for free from your profile in a few minutes.
What do I need to connect Instagram?
An Instagram Business or Creator account (Instagram calls both "professional") that is linked to a Facebook Page you manage. Instagram does not let apps post to personal accounts.
Switching is free and keeps your followers: in the Instagram app, open Settings, then Account type and tools, then Switch to professional account. Then link it to your Page from the Page's settings, under Linked accounts.
Why do I connect Instagram and Facebook separately?
They are separate destinations, even though both sign in through Facebook. Connecting Facebook adds your Pages; connecting Instagram adds the Instagram accounts linked to them. Connect whichever you post to.
I want to add another Page or Instagram account, but Facebook only offers to continue.
Facebook remembers what you shared with PostVenue last time. On that screen, choose to edit your settings instead of continuing, tick the new Page or account, and finish. The ones you already connected stay connected.
I have several channels, Pages or accounts. How do I choose where a post goes?
Connect each one. Every channel, Page or account becomes its own destination on the create card, named so you can tell them apart. When you make a post, tap the destinations it should go to.
Can I post the same video to two channels on the same platform?
No: each post goes to one destination per platform. Platforms treat the same video on several of your channels as reused or duplicate content. YouTube can stop it earning, TikTok shows it to fewer people, and Meta stops recommending accounts that mostly repost.
Posting one video to different platforms is fine. That is what PostVenue is for.
What happens to my posts if I disconnect an account?
They stay up on the platform. Disconnecting stops PostVenue posting to that account and stops their numbers updating here. Posts still scheduled to it can't go out until you reconnect.
Posting
What can I upload?
Videos in MP4, MOV, up to 2 GB. MP4 works on every platform. Photos too, to TikTok, Instagram and Facebook.
Instagram takes videos from 3 seconds to 15 minutes and up to 300 MB. If a video does not fit, PostVenue tells you before you publish.
Can I post photos?
Yes, to TikTok, Instagram and Facebook: one photo, or up to 10 in one post as a carousel. Choose Photo at the top of the post before you pick where it goes: PostVenue then shows only the accounts that take photos. The first photo is the cover; use the arrows on each photo to change the order.
JPG, PNG, WebP and iPhone (HEIC) photos up to 50 MB each. PostVenue sends every photo as a JPG no larger than 1080p, because Instagram takes only JPG and TikTok nothing larger; nothing is cropped or retouched.
Instagram takes photos up to 8 MB, from 4:5 (portrait) to 1.91:1 (landscape). A photo outside that is flagged before you publish, so you can remove Instagram or choose another photo.
YouTube takes videos only.
Why can't I post photos to YouTube?
YouTube itself lets you post photos - as a post on your channel, in the YouTube app or YouTube Studio. But apps like PostVenue publish through YouTube's API, and YouTube's API only accepts videos: it has no way to create a photo or image post.
So a Photo post in PostVenue goes to the other platforms you have connected, and YouTube is left out. To share the same photo on YouTube, post it there directly. If YouTube adds photo posts to its API, PostVenue will offer them.
How many posts can I make?
Lobby includes 2 YouTube, 4 TikTok, 4 Instagram and 4 Facebook posts a day, counted on your own day in the time zone set in Settings.
You can schedule up to 14 days ahead. If a day is already full for a platform, PostVenue tells you before you publish, so you can pick another day.
See the plansDo I have to keep PostVenue open while my video uploads?
Yes, until the upload finishes. A web page can't keep sending a file once it is closed, so don't refresh or close the tab while it says it is uploading. You can keep using the rest of PostVenue meanwhile.
Once the upload is done you can close everything. Scheduled posts go out on time without you.
When does my post appear on the platform?
At the time you chose. PostVenue holds a scheduled post and sends it at that time, so nothing sits unpublished on the platform beforehand. The platform may then take a few minutes to process the video before it shows as live.
What happens to my video file after it is posted?
We delete our copy 24 hours after the post is live everywhere you sent it. The post itself, with its link and numbers, stays in your Library.
If a post fails and isn't fixed within 7 days, it moves to your Drafts so you can try again.
How long are drafts kept?
14 days after you last saved them. We let you know 2 days before a draft is deleted, and saving it again starts the clock over.
What happens when I delete a post?
It waits in the Bin for 7 days, so you can restore it, then it is gone for good. A scheduled post is stopped first and comes back as a draft if you restore it.
Deleting a post in PostVenue doesn't remove it from the platform. To take a live post down, delete it on the platform itself.
